We had our Baby July 23, 2009 at 1:41 AM. He weighed 7lbs. 6 oz and was 20 1/2 inches long. Just for Journaling purposes I am going to tell you all about it. This delivery was much different from my others. At about 2 AM on the 22 I woke up and was having contractions roughly every 20 minutes apart. I had an OB appt that morning at 7:45 I went and was only at a 4 and still super thick. Well after my appt. my contractions started to come about every 15 minutes. They stayed that way all day long. at about 5 PM I told Matt that we needed to go to the mall and walk. I was so uncomfortable. We walked the mall because it was raining. We walked the mall for about an hour and a half and then came home. My contractions were about every 7 to 12 minutes. Well in previous pregnancies I have never contracted this long. there were 4 hour labors from start to finish. I also thought I had strep B so I knew I needed to get to the hospital in enough time to get antibiotics. So we dropped Reagan, Eli, and Joseph off at our good friends house. (thank you a ton!) Off we went. When we got to the hospital I was still at a 4 but I was 80% effaced. They had a do laps of Labor and Delivery for an hour. I was sure she was going to send us home. At this point my contractions were coming about every 5 minutes. After the hour the triage nurse checked me again and asked me, "you are still about a 4 to a 5 do you want me to make you a 5?" of course I did. So she said okay you are staying. I don't think if she sent me home I would have known when to come back. this was at 10 PM. They moved me to an actual labor and delivery room. At about 11:30 they gave me an epidural. and at about 12 they came in to break my water but I was throwing up so the OB decided to wait. They came back in at 12:30 and broke my water. They wanted to break my water so that they could monitor my contractions internally, and monitor my C-section scar internally to make sure it didn't rupture. This was just like a littler catheter and to be honest with the epidural I didn't even know it was there. I was still a 5 at this point. At 1:25 the nurse came back in and says that she wishes my contractions were a little bit harder. She said that she would check me and if I wasn't progressing enough they would start a little bit of petocin. Well she checked me and said, "WOW" there is a head you are almost crowning." So she went to get the doctor. at 1:30 I told matt that I needed to push. So he walked into the hall and told the nurse. She tells the doctor and they came into my room. There were three doctors in there while I was delivering and all three were very surprised that I had progressed that quickly. I told them but they really didn't believe me. So they quickly got ready and I pushed through two contractions and he was here. My contractions were only two minutes apart so I wash pushing for a total of maybe 5 minutes. I am really grateful that I was able to do a VBAC. The recovery is so much better for me. He is very mild mannered, and hardly cries at all. Hopefully that continues. He has the same coloring as Reagan and definitely looks like his siblings. It is kind of mind boggling to me that I now have 4 children. They are really good kids and are a joy in my life! Matt brought Reagan, Elijah, and Joseph up this evening to meet their new brother. Reagan loves him and is such great big sister. Eli also really likes him. He wants to call him Fluffy. Joseph wants to call him Baabaa. He is cute with him. It is funny to me to see how different each on of them is. I wouldn't trade the opportunity I have to be there mother for anything. I have so much to be grateful for.
